Nugget Snoop

BONUS Nugget Finding Secrets DVD and Big Softie Headphones

A new model engineered especially to Jack’s specs for nugget hunting but very effective on the beach too. Superb lightweight 10” coil. Silent threshold. Volume control (No external Signal Enhancer's required). Trash rejection. Tone discrimination. Arm strap and h/d fittings. Detects $1 coins on beach at 29cm. Unique ability to detects gold nuggets in iron rich soils at full sensitivity. Unique ability to increase target depths with a fast swing action, allowing for fast ground coverage.(Other detectors need to be swung slowly for max depth). Boosted signal strength to make deep targets loud and clear. Pin Point mode. Very simple to use and light weight.

JACK LANGE’S NOTES
USING THE GOLDSNOOP PRO/ NUGGET SNOOP

This is not a substitute for reading the manual

STARTING
Begin by making sure the lower shaft is the right length for your height. The coil cable should be wound securely around the shaft so that there is no sloppiness in the cable that can cause false signals. Don’t make the cable to tight near the coil or it can damage the coil.

Turn the detector on to full Sensitivity for maximum penetrating ability.
Flick to All Metal mode. It will then beep on all metals at maximum depth.
For information on selecting suitable goldfield ground, see my website www.goldhunterdetectors.com.

Swing the search coil as close to the ground as possible, without lifting the coil off the ground at the end of each swing. Swing the coil at a medium pace, about one swing per second. This detector likes a fairly fast swing for maximum depth. If you swing too slow, you will lose a little depth. This is a brilliant bit of engineering as virtually all other detectors need a very slow swing for maximum depth and this leads to slow ground coverage.
This unit is designed to give a positive clear signal even for deep targets. Once again, a clever feature, so you won’t miss deep targets that otherwise would be hard to hear.

REJECTING JUNK TARGETS.
Once you start detecting, you will find that most targets you dig will be worthless junk. To save time digging them, you can choose one of two methods (or both) of telling if it’s junk down there:

1. DISCRIMINATION Flick the switch to disc. Leave the disc/tone setting knob at approx half way. It will then still beep on good targets like gold and copper and silver, but will not beep on iron junk targets, and many aluminum targets. However if it is a large junk target (They are not too common) it will still beep on it.

Carry with you a good target like gold or a copper coin and also a bit of iron junk, say a nail. Make sure that the disc/tone knob is set so that it rejects the good item but not the junk item. This is critical. The ideal disc/tone position may vary from one goldfield/ relic field/beach/ to another, because the mineralisation is different in each spot and will affect discrimination settings.

2. TONE You can also use tone discrimination.  Flick the switch to tone. Now the detector will give a high pitch signal on good targets and a low pitch signal on junk targets.
Once again, by carrying with you a good item and a junk item for testing, you can set the Tone/Disc knob at the ideal position for that particular place. If the high mineralisation in the soil causes the tiny nugget to give a deep tone, then you will have to settle for finding nuggets bigger than ‘very small’, or search in all metal mode.
If you don’t have a small nugget to use as a test piece, use a small bit of lead instead.

In rare soils of extreme mineralisation (usually very dark red) discrimination becomes unreliable. Dig every target.

COILS
The 8” coil is ideal for smaller targets and tight places. For maximum depth on all but very small targets and for speed of ground coverage, prefer the very light 10” coil.

MISCELLANEOUS
These detectors are capable of detecting nuggets as small as a grain of wheat but remember that the smaller the nugget is, the shallower it can be detected at. Small signals should be investigated.

You may own a very expensive deep seeking detector but in high junk areas it will only discriminate some of the iron junk targets and so you will probably not bother detecting that ground even though there may be gold in it. In such areas, try using the Snoop detector instead. You will find that they will eliminate most of the junk at full depth, making it worthwhile to detect that junk-ridden ground.

Happy Hunting!
